community of South Dakota

Our Vision

To create a healthy social and spiritual environment in the community.

To facilitate Islamic education for children and adults.

To establish a venue for interaction within the communities of South Dakota irrespective of ethnicity, race and religion.

Our History

Muslim Community Center or South Dakota (MCCSD) was first established in 2009 as a non-profit organization; with a vision to serve the social and spiritual needs of the Muslims of Sioux Falls. MCCSD is also very actively involved with the local community, with active engagement in social welfare projects in the city of Sioux Falls at large.

Imam Abdelaziz Hassan El-Sheikh

Imam Abdelaziz grew up in Egypt & studied at AL-Azhar Islamic University Arabic language, Qur’an, Tajweed, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Tawheed & obtained the Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002. He also completed Ijaza (Hafs an Asem) and memorized the Quran (Hafiz) during that time. Sheikh obtained a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies in Jurisprudence from the Islamic University of Minnesota (IUM) in 2018.

Imam worked as a full-time Imam at Omar Haikal Islamic Center, Las Vegas, NV, from 2012 – 2016. He also worked as a teacher and supervisor for Arabic and Islamic studies at Omar Haikal Islamic Academy during those years. Then, Sheikh Abdelaziz moved to work as a full-time Imam at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, TN from 2016-2017. From 2017 until 2022, Imam Abdelaziz worked as a full-time Imam at Northern Nevada Muslim Community Center. Since October 2022, Sheikh Abdelaziz became a full-time Imam at the Muslim Community Center of South Dakota (MCCSD)
