To fulfill the needs of the growing Muslim community of South Dakota.

Our History

Muslim Community Center of South Dakota (MCCSD) was first established in 2009 as a non-for-profit organization; with a vision to serve the social and spiritual needs of the muslims in Sioux Falls. MCCSD is also very actively involved with the local community with active engagement in social welfare projects in the city of Sioux Falls, at large.

Sheikh Mohamed El-Hewizy


Our Imam, Sheikh Mohamed El-hewizy is a graduate of Al Azhar University, with specialization in Fundamentals of Religion and Da’wah. Sheikh Mohamed is Hafiz of Quran and mastered the science of Tajweed. Other than conducting the daily prayers, he delivers Friday sermon at the masjid covering a wide range of topics. Sheikh Muhammad also runs the MCCSD Quran Academy and oversees the MCCSD Sunday School. Sheikh is very actively involved with community activities ranging from facilitating marriage (Nikah) ceremonies and conducting funeral (janazah) services. Before joining MCCSD, Sheikh Muhammad has served as imam of MAS Youth Center, Brooklyn NY from 2006-2011. He then served as the Religious Affairs.
